All Des Moines Public Schools 8th graders are invited to participate in a student trip to Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia over spring break. The trip takes place Sunday, March 12 to Thursday, March 16, 2017. This will be our 6th Annual trip for DMPS 8th graders. Students from all of our middle schools are included in this once in a lifetime trip!
DMPS students travel with social studies teachers as chaperones through Close Up. The all-inclusive trip (airfare, hotel, ground transportation, meals, 24-hour security, educational program, etc.) costs $1,722 per student. While this seems like a lot of money, Close Up is a non-profit which means donations are tax deductible and they offer financial assistance for qualifying students. We also offer two fundraisers to help students raise funds.

More information will come home with your student in August and we will host informational meetings for students and families in early September. Dates and locations to be announced.
If you are interested in placing your name on a list of interested students, please email the K-12 Social Studies Curriculum Coordinator, Amber Graeber at amber.graeber@dmschools.org
