Students across Des Moines continue to pay their respects to law enforcement. Students at Harding Middle School surprised SRO Rebecca Peppmeier with hundreds of cards and a gratitude line. After Officer Peppmeier walked through the school receiving hugs and flowers from the entire school, two blue balloons were released outside in honor of fallen officers Justin Martin and Anthony Beminio, a former SRO at DMPS. Actor and former White House advisor Kal Penn will be spending time at Harding Middle School on Wednesday, working with students and teachers thanks to the Turnaround Arts program, an initiative to integrate the arts into other curriculum areas to improve learning and achievement.
